Of all the jobs you could have on campus, what made you want to be a Peer Mentor?
When entering into this program, I knew that I wanted to make an impact on someones life just as my peer mentors did for me. The CAST program has done so much for me, and I believe that it is my turn to give back to it by impacting the people in it just as it has done for me. I love the family that the CAST program is, and I can't wait to be a part of that family.
If you could learn any skill or craft instantly, what would it be?
My grandpa was really big into leather working, and when he passed away I inherited all of his leather working tools. I am currently in the Engler Program to create a business in honor of him and the love that we share for the craft. I am currently learning how to do it, but that is definitely something that I want to perfect and know how to do.
What's one thing on your bucket list you know you'll cross off some day?
My dad was born in Alaska, so my family has always wanted to go visit there, so I think we are going to make that happen hopefully sometime soon. I think Alaska is beautiful and it is a dream of mine to go see it.
What's your favorite way to de-stress or relax during busy times?
I love listening to music, watch movies and shows, go on walks, be ourdoors, and most importantly spend time in prayer with Jesus and give him all of my pain to put peace over my heart.
If your life had a soundtrack, what is your theme song?
I think that my song would be "Caught up in the Country" by Rodney Atkins. This song just makes me feel so happy and shows my love for the life that I am living. It also brings me back to my roots of growing up in the country and my love for agriculture. This song just brings me so much joy, especially when caught up in the country.
You just won an all-expenses paid vacation. Where would you go?
I would probably go to Paris or go to New York again, because these are places my mom has always dreamt of going.
What's your favorite place on campus‚ and why?
I love the tables behind the library on East Campus in the little flower garden. I love just sitting down and soaking in all of the fresh air while grinding out some homework. It is just a place that I love to go when I want to be outside yet get a few things done.
What's your go-to comfort food or guilty pleasure snack?
My guilty pleasure food is most definitely Zesty Ranch Veggie Straws and Tru Fruit chocolate covered strawberries. When I have a late night of studying ahead of me, you best know I will be going to Herbies market first thing to grab these two things.
What's one thing you wish you had known before starting college?
I wish I knew how to study for certain classes like Chemistry. I studied in High School, but this is so different. It will take me time to get my study methods down, but I just wish I had them before entering college.
