Of all the jobs you could have on campus, what made you want to be a Peer Mentor?

The whole program was so welcoming and made me feel so secure in my decision to go to college and stay in college.

If you could learn any skill or craft instantly, what would it be?

If I could learn any skill instantly I would want to learn to skateboard. I think it's really cool, but I have terrible balance.

What's one thing on your bucket list you know you'll cross off some day?

One thing on my bucket I KNOW I'll cross off is visiting every state in the country.

What's your favorite way to de-stress or relax during busy times?

My favorite way to de-stress is to watch movies with my friends, especially crappy rom-coms.

If your life had a soundtrack, what is your theme song?

My theme song would have to be any David Bowie song, but specifically Starman.

You just won an all-expenses paid vacation. Where would you go?

Paris! I love the art there!

What's your favorite place on campus‚ and why?

I adore the little couch nook in Richard's Hall. It's a great place to study and catch up on homework in between studio classes.

What's your go-to comfort food or guilty pleasure snack?

I will go absolutely nuts over a pack of cheeseballs. I don't know why, I love them like nothing else.

What's one thing you wish you had known before starting college?

I wish I had known that it wasn't going to be as hard or as scary as I thought it would be. I made friends, like my teachers, and have a sense of community I didn't think I'd have.

Why I Mentor Statement

I mentor because I believe students shouldn't be afraid of college. I came into my freshman year terrified. Terrified of being away from family, friends, terrified of being in a new room, living with people I didn't know. Terrified of new classes, a large campus, new teachers. My mentors eased those fears, made me feel safe and welcomed. {} I want to be the kind of mentor who listens and problem solves, so that students can be their best versions of themselves as they explore new relationships, RSO's, and classes. Many come to college with limited friends, they don't know anyone. Their mentors are the first people they truly get to meet, so I feel it's my job to be the stability they need. {} My experiences with the Art Program at Lincoln have taught me about resilience and growing creatively and I hope to use that to support students as they navigate this new chapter of their life.
