Of all the jobs you could have on campus, what made you want to be a CAST Peer Mentor?
My peer mentors were the first people to welcome me onto campus, and they were very influential in helping me navigate my first semester at UNL. I wanted to give back to this program and have the opportunity to do the same for other first-generation students like me!
If you could learn any skill or craft instantly, what would it be?
I would want to instantly be able to walk on my hands. Walking on two feet is wayyy overrated.
What’s one thing on your bucket list you know you’ll cross off some day?
I want to and WILL learn to fly a plane someday
What's your favorite way to de-stress or relax during busy times?
My favorite way to de-stress and relax is to cry and pet my cat. She could care less about my feelings but I love her anyways
If your life had a soundtrack, what is your theme song?
"My Way" by Frank Sinatra (rip King)
You just won an all-expenses paid vacation. Where would you go?
I would go to Greece!!
What’s your favorite place on campus—and why?
My favorite place on campus is the Howard G Buffett gallery on the 2nd floor of Louise Pound Hall because there is a wall filled with photos of bears and I seriously love bears
What's your go-to comfort food or guilty pleasure snack?
Chips and guac
What's one thing you wish you had known before starting college?
I wish I had known how awesome the CAST Office was so I would have started working here sooner
Why I Mentor Statement
I mentor because I believe that no one gets through life alone. I want to be the kind of mentor who listens actively, challenges thoughtfully, and supports consistently, so that students can feel confident, valued, and empowered. My experiences with overcoming academic and personal challenges have taught me that support networks are critical to success, and I hope to use that to support students as they navigate their first year here at UNL as a first-generation student.
