Of all the jobs you could have on campus, what made you want to be a Peer Mentor?

What made me want to be a peer mentor was the large impact the CAST program had on me my freshman year. As an out-of-state student, I had little to no connections on campus prior to my attendance. The CAST program, and the individuals I met within it, helped me forge my own sense of belonging at UNL.

If you could learn any skill or craft instantly, what would it be?

Botany, and like creating natural remedies with plants and whatnot. I've been SO obsessed with The Walking Dead recently, and if the zombie apocalypse ever happened, I need to be able to live in the wilderness. I will NOT be kicking the bucket just because I couldn't treat a wound properly. A close second is hunting, for food of course!

What's one thing on your bucket list you know you'll cross off some day?

Traveling outside of the country. This is something I deem undeniably invaluable when it comes to expanding my knowledge and view of the world around me.

What's your favorite way to de-stress or relax during busy times?

I have been a big participant in art and creative outlets for my entire life. As of recently, I've been really into writing -- BUT, I find myself enjoying almost every form of art you can think of: music, dance, literature, fine arts, etc. I love it all.

If your life had a soundtrack, what is your theme song?

Comme des garçons (Like the Boys) by Isaac Dunbar. He is my all-time #1 music artist, and I relate to this song a lot as a Black, queer man slowly (but surely) discovering himself.

You just won an all-expenses paid vacation. Where would you go?

Iceland, easiest decision ever. It’s so beautiful there, and the weather (from what I've heard) wouldn't be too hard to adjust to.

What's your favorite place on campus‚ and why?

My favorite place on campus is (or was) the Learning Communities Lounge in the Abel/Sandoz Welcome Center. This year it’s being replaced by a new space for hall government organizations, BUT last year I spent SO much time in the room and have a lot of great (and very tragic) memories within those walls.

What's your go-to comfort food or guilty pleasure snack?

Sour patch kids. Literally the best candy ever.

What's one thing you wish you had known before starting college?

I wish I knew to be cautious about my involvements on campus. Towards the end of my freshman year, I was totally burnt out because I volunteered myself into way too many positions. This prevented me from giving my 100% to anything I was a part of.
