You can’t build a house without a solid foundation. And you can’t build a successful college career without understanding who you are, why you’re here, and where you want to go.
The goal of the First Husker foundational event is to come together to begin to understand what it means to be a first-generation student, and learn the skills and strategies you’ll need to thrive at the University of Nebraska.
As a First Husker, you have the opportunity to work closely with faculty and staff, explore your first-gen identity, and connect with other first-gen students. You'll be paired with an Academic Success Coach and team of Peer Mentors, who will serve as a support system for you during your first semester and beyond.
The 4-day Foundational Program runs August 18-22, 2024. First Husker students are invited to arrive on campus Sunday, August 18. (Students living on-campus will be granted early move-in privileges.) First Huskers spend four days with a team of Academic Success Coaches and Peer Mentors making new friends, getting connected with campus resources, and preparing for the start of the Fall semester.
Give yourself an academic edge and make some memories.
