Of all the jobs you could have on campus, what made you want to be a CAST Peer Mentor?

I wanted to be a CAST Peer Mentor because I want to be there for other students. As a First-Generation and Transfer Student, I know some of the challenges students face, and I want to help alleviate the stresses and pressures and be a helpful guide that my students or any students know they can come to. I also love creating meaningful and genuine connections with people. Meeting new people is one of my absolute favorite things because everybody is different and has something they can bring to the table.

If you could learn any skill or craft instantly, what would it be?

If I could learn any skill, I would love to learn how to play the drums or guitar. I recently became obsessed with rock music, and being able to play some of the riffs would be awesome. Also, imagine me just out of nowhere doing a drum solo.

What’s one thing on your bucket list you know you’ll cross off some day?

One thing I will cross off my bucket list someday is having my own vegetable and flower garden. A close second would be visiting Italy or Japan and embarking on a journey.

What's your favorite way to de-stress or relax during busy times?

My favorite de-stress activity is to listen to music and dance around/slide around in fuzzy socks on a wooden floor and pretend I'm a professional figure skater.

My favorite way to relax is to switch off my phone and laptop, make hot chocolate and popcorn, and watch a comfort movie.

If your life had a soundtrack, what is your theme song?

I'm really torn between choosing "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey (cliché, I know) or "Fight for Your Right" by the Beastie Boys as my theme song.

You just won an all-expenses paid vacation. Where would you go?

You can catch me in Italy or Japan.

What’s your favorite place on campus—and why?

Truthfully, my favorite place on campus is the CAST Office because it feels like a second home to me, and I know a lot of the people there. A close second, though, is East Campus. Let me share a little secret with you: Everything on East Campus (in my opinion, of course) is better because it is quiet, less busy, and just an excellent place to get away from all of the noise and business of a day, take a deep breath, and relax. I also love enjoying all the flowering plants, especially in the Backyard Farmer's Garden.

What's your go-to comfort food or guilty pleasure snack?

Honestly, a good old-fashioned crunchy taco from Taco Bell is a huge guilty pleasure snack for me.

My guilty pleasure comfort drink is a nice cup of hot chocolate with Lucky Charms marshmallows.

What's one thing you wish you had known before starting college?

One thing I wish I had known before starting college is that not every college student is on the same playing field, that some people may have more advantages than others, and that it is okay to ask for help.
