Joel is a first-generation, non-traditional student who earned a B.A. in English and his M.A. in English with an emphasis in British Literature from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. He intends to pursue a Ph.D. in English. 

Prior joining CAST, Joel spent several years in the restaurant industry. He also worked in the Office of the Registrar and taught English at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. Joel’s experience paved the road to joining the CAST team and helped create the passion to help students. He is inspired and committed to supporting students, cultivating knowledge, and providing students with a reliable resource to help, regardless of where they are on their academic journey. 

In his spare time, Joel enjoys spending time with his family and friends. His interests include studying Russian literature, Dante, Arthurian Legend, Plato, and Aristotle. He also enjoys writing, gaming, and is an avid poker player.
