Of all the jobs you could have on campus, what made you want to be a CAST Peer Mentor?
I really do just enjoy the community and the togetherness of the CAST program. :) All the CAST coaches and other mentors are so extremely kind and welcoming, especially the First Husker program is so important to me. I think as a first-generation college student, it is SO important to be able to make those communities and connections as early as possible to maintain a good support system in a place that is so unfamiliar. I am so grateful for such an opportunity with these amazing people!
If you could learn any skill or craft instantly, what would it be?
Definitely the ability to blacksmith. Completely unnecessary in the modern age, but it would be so COOL to just tell people I can make swords and armor on the random when given the correct materials to do so.
What’s one thing on your bucket list you know you’ll cross off some day?
I'd love to be able to go cliff diving. Although I have a slight fear of heights... sooo I'm not sure how soon I'll be able to knock that one off the bucket list.
What's your favorite way to de-stress or relax during busy times?
A very English major answer, but I really do love reading. I adore getting lost in the realms of other worlds and enveloping myself in the literature. Plus, I just think words are so cool, like we came up with them to communicate! How neat is that??
If your life had a soundtrack, what is your theme song?
This is SUCH a hard question to answer. I see myself in so many songs, but as of right now (this day being the 22nd of March in 2024) I have to say "Name" by the Goo Goo Dolls has to be pick for right now.
You just won an all-expenses paid vacation. Where would you go?
ITALY. Hands DOWN. It's always been my dream to have a little small blue house on an island and scoot around on my little Vespa around the town. Then maybe snag some pasta on the way back home from whatever adventures I get up too. That's always been my dream.
What’s your favorite place on campus—and why?
I actually really enjoy the second floor of Louise Pound Hall. With the past year having Andrews (the English and Film building) under construction, I've had a lot of classes in LPH and with some time in-between classes I'd do a bit of exploring. There are lots of cool study rooms up on the global experiences section of the second floor and they're mega nice!
What's your go-to comfort food or guilty pleasure snack?
Campbells chicken and stars soup. I haven't seen it in stores for years, but it is my childhood favorite meal.
What's one thing you wish you had known before starting college?
Don't be afraid to mess up. You're going to fail a couple of times, but it never is truly a failure unless you make no effort to fix or change it for the better the next time. Keep your chin up! :)
