Of all the jobs you could have on campus, what made you want to be a CAST Peer Mentor?

Being a mentee made me realize I want to continue being a part of this program in some way and helping others like me an out-of-state first-generation student to be more comfortable in a new environment that were used to. I want to be able to give back to the program and watch it grow as we get more students like me to come to UNL!

If you could learn any skill or craft instantly, what would it be?

My skill would be to learn languages like Spanish and French. For all the places I want to travel to it would be nice to know some of the more common languages to communicate with.

What’s one thing on your bucket list you know you’ll cross off some day?

Being able to travel to all the 50 states. Seeing the landscape of each state while road-tripping has been an experience of mine that I’m a quarter of the way there, hoping I can successfully cross out pretty soon.

What's your favorite way to de-stress or relax during busy times?

My favorite way to de-stress would be to sleep. My classes are already difficult enough and a nap goes a long way in regaining my energy to get back to it.

If your life had a soundtrack, what is your theme song?

"Relax" by the Vacations

You just won an all-expenses paid vacation. Where would you go?

I would pick Paris! The idea of traveling out of the country to learn about the culture, and on top of that all the museums and fashion is just top tier. I always dreamt of going since I was a kid and fun fact my childhood bedroom was Paris themed.

What’s your favorite place on campus—and why?

The Stacks located in Love Library South. The overview of downtown Lincoln gets me mesmerized every time and I still can't believe I have such an amazing study view along with the animals that I see sometimes in the garden.

What's your go-to comfort food or guilty pleasure snack?

My go-to comfort food/drink would be my grandma's homemade tortillas and her lemonade. Every time I go to her house, I always drink more than a gallon of her lemonade which she proceeds to still make more and her tortillas that I could eat a million of them.

What's one thing you wish you had known before starting college?

One thing I wish I'd known would be the weather. Coming from out of state I was not prepared for the weather to be so windy and cold.
