Did you give anyone the stink-eye or throw shade recently? What did they do to deserve it?
I recently attended a concert at the Lied Center and Squirmy McSquirmsalot was sitting in front of me. It was very distracting, so shady stink-eye was definitely happening toward that seat.
Favorite spot on campus and why?
The Sheldon Sculpture Garden—It's a nice, quiet outdoor spot to sit and think. AND, it's a great location to enjoy some amazing music at Jazz in June each year.
Do you ever talk to yourself? When? And what do you say?
"Get up! Don't hit the snooze button! Get up!" - Every. Single. Morning.
What is one thing you were really glad you brought when you went to college?
My new electric typewriter that I received as a high school graduation gift. It had "white-out" tape built in!

If you were an animal, what would you be and why?
Maybe a cat? I like to think I’m quick and athletic, but I’m also more than alright with lazing around in a sunbeam.
What is one thing you wish people knew about you?
I’m not naturally a morning person, but I forced myself to become one. I’d rather get up and get things done than try and be productive late into the evening!
What app do you use the most?
I’d like to say CNN or something academic, but it’s probably Instagram.
What were you most afraid of when you started college?
Not having any friends. Luckily, college is this amazing place where everyone is in the same boat! Even at a large institution, there are so many ways to meet people and find your tribe.

Favorite TV/movie quote?
“Harry, I’m going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don’t plan it. Don’t wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men’s store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good hot black coffee, like this.” – Special Agent Dale Cooper, Twin Peaks
Top song on your playlist?
Anything sung by Ann Wilson. I’m addicted to her voice. She could be singing the ABC’s and it would be amazing.
Which animal/reptile/insect would you least like to be locked in a cage with?
Ticks—because they’re tiny and hungry and really hard to kill.
What is one thing you are really glad you brought when you went to college?
Maybe it sounds dumb, but I’m really glad I went to college with an open mind. I flew from Nebraska to New York alone with two suitcases and a backpack — no room for any non-essentials and 1,000+ miles from everything and everyone I’d ever known. I was scared, but I told myself I could either hide in my room and be afraid for the rest of my life, or I could get out and learn and explore. That adventurous attitude led me places I never even dreamed of and opened so many doors. The people I met along the way are some of my best friends and mentors to this day.

If you were an animal, what would you be and why?
I would be a brown bear. It seems kind of odd, but there’s some reasoning behind it. For starters, how cool would it be to sleep for several months straight?! I also love camping, so I’d enjoy sneaking some snacks away from human campers. Some of my favorite activities involve swimming and hiking through forests, so the setting is ideal. Lastly, I’d be a brown bear because my friends often joke and call me the “mama bear” of the friend group. I’m always looking out for my friends and protecting them, which is where the nickname comes from. Seems fitting.
Favorite spot on campus and why?
The balcony on the second floor of the Union, right next to the Fischer Lounge. People are rarely up there, and you can see all of central campus. I highly recommend it!
What is the most useless talent you have?
I can talk like Stitch from Lilo & Stitch. Is that a talent?
What were you most afraid of when you started college?
Making friends and finding my classes! Luckily my first year peer mentor helped me find my way around. She was a huge help!

If you could be a character in a book, who would you be?
Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter series
What app do you use the most?
Pinterest—does that count?
Who is one person, alive or dead, that you would like to meet?
Andy Cohen
How did you spend your time outside class (besides studying)?
I was involved in a few student organizations. Some of my favorite college memories include the activities and trips we did together like tie-dyeing shirts, seeing the sandhill cranes, and canoeing down the Niobrara River. I also worked on campus, which was great because I learned more about the university and it made it easier to balance work and school.

Favorite TV/movie quote?
“That which you believe becomes your world.” – What Dreams May Come (one of my very favorite movies!)
Do you ever talk to yourself? When? And what did you say?
All the time! I mostly chastise myself in the third person when I mess up something I’m working on. I also commonly mutter “Jiminy Christmas” under my breath, which is something my dad also says!
Who is one person, alive or dead, you would like to meet?
I’d love to meet Maya Angelou, author and poet. Her words have inspired so many areas of my life since I was 15 years old and I would love to have the chance to share a cup of coffee with her.
What were you most afraid of when you started college?
I remember feeling afraid of looking foolish. I felt like everyone else knew what they were doing. I had no idea how wrong I was! Nearly every new student spends their first few weeks (or even months!) learning the “ropes” of college student life. It is totally normal to get lost and ask questions!
